Francesco Talenti

Francesco Talenti (* 1300, † 1369 in Florence ) was an Italian sculptor and architect of the late Gothic period.

About his life little is known. In 1325 he was involved in the construction of the cathedral of Orvieto. In 1351 he succeeded Andrea Pisano as chief architect of the cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore, was construction since 1296. He expanded the dimensions of the building by neuentwarf the large vestibules and increased the length of the nave. With these measures, he made the Florence Cathedral until today one of the largest church buildings. He finished in 1359 and designed by the Giotto bell tower.
