Francesco Toldo

Francesco Toldo ( born December 2, 1971 in Padua, Italy ) is a retired Italian footballer.

Skills

Toldo is very responsive, strong high balls and he is also able to "read" a game. He played as a goalkeeper for the coaches Trapattoni, Terim, Zaccheroni or Cúper. 72 penalties he could hold in his career ten.

Career

In the club

The football games began Francesco Toldo in youth as a right defender. At 13, his coach discovered his skills as a goalkeeper. After that, he never changed his position. At age 17, he began his career at AC Milan, with whom he, however, denied not a game. At the beginning of his professional career so he ended up provisionally at rather weak teams (Trento Calcio and Ravenna Calcio ).

In 1993 he then moved to Fiorentina, where he became a regular keeper and won with this club twice won the Coppa Italia and took part in the UEFA Champions League in part. When Florence had relegated, he moved in 2001 - also because of his strong performances at the European Championships 2000 - for 26.5 million euros to Inter Milan.

In this club he spent four years as the first goalkeeper before he in a friendly match tour of Inter Milan in the summer of 2005, not more regularly came into use because of its non-participation and was replaced by Júlio César. In February 2006, he won his jersey with the number 1 back, extended his contract with Inter until 2009 and was rumored to Palermo, Milan and Florence courted. In March 2009, he extended with 37 years of his contract with Inter Milan until 2011.

July 1, 2010 Toldo ended his active career as a professional footballer.

Goal against Juve
