Francis B. Fay

Francis Ball Fay ( born June 12, 1793 in Southboro, Worcester County, Massachusetts, † October 6, 1876 in South Lancaster, Massachusetts ) was an American politician. In the years 1852 and 1853, he represented the state of Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Francis Fay received a rather average education and then worked in retail. Between 1817 and 1832 he was postmaster in Southboro. In addition, he served from 1824 to 1830 as Deputy Chief of Police in Worcester County. Between 1830 and 1840 he was several times a member of the Massachusetts General Court was politically Fay member of the Whig party. In the years 1843 to 1845 and again in 1848 he sat in the Massachusetts Senate.

After the death of Mr Robert Rantoul Fay was at the due election for the second seat from Massachusetts as his successor in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on 13 December 1852. Since he did not run in the regular elections of 1852, he could only finish the current term in Congress until March 3, 1853. In 1857, Fay was mayor of Chelsea. Since 1858 he lived in Lancaster, where he founded a school. In 1868 he was again in the state Senate. Francis Fay died on 6 October 1876 in South Lancaster.
