Francis Buchholz

Francis Buchholz ( born February 19, 1954 in Hannover ) is a German rock bassist.

Life and career

Making his first appearance as a bass guitarist with his school band "Blue Carps " he had. At his high school at the age of 15 years In the following years he played in various rock, blues and jazz bands and graduated from high school.

During his engineering studies at the University of Hanover, he also attended jazz classes at the Musikhochschule Hannover. After his recognition as a conscientious objector, he completed his community service in social work of a church community.

1973 merged his band Dawn Road, consisting of Francis Buchholz ( bass), Uli Jon Roth ( guitar), Jürgen Rosenthal ( drums) and Achim Kirschning (keyboards), with the Scorpions, at that time consisting of Klaus Meine ( vocals), and Rudolf Schenker (rhythm guitar). This laid the foundation for the global career of the Scorpions had been laid. In the same year the album Fly to the Rainbow was recorded.

From 1974 to 1991 Buchholz took the Scorpions more albums: In Trance, Virgin Killer, Taken by Force, Tokyo Tapes, Love Drive, Animal Magnetism, Blackout, Love at First Sting, World Wide Live, Savage Amusement and Crazy World.

In 1978 he founded the firm rock sound that was in the eighties and nineties to a major sound company. Rock Sound provided the sound equipment for big festivals in Germany and touring national and international artists.

As bassist for the Scorpions Buchholz celebrated worldwide success. In total he has sold over 30 million albums the band and over 50 gold and platinum awards, especially in the U.S. and Canada, but also in many other countries around the world. He also received the German Echo, the German Bravo Otto, the World Music Award and other awards.

Mikhail Gorbachev received Francis Buchholz and his bandmates from the Scorpions in the Kremlin in Moscow in 1991.

In 1992, the paths of beech wood and the Scorpions parted. He retired into private life, and wrote the textbook Bass Magic.

In the 90s and early 2000s he worked as an artist consultant, artist manager and music publisher.

A comeback for Buchholz on stage was in 2005, when he again went on tour through Europe and the United States together with Uli Jon Roth, the former Dawn Road and Scorpions lead guitarist.

In 2008, he co-produced with the band Dreamtide Album Dream and deliver, plays the bass on the beech.

2012 went Buchholz with the former Scorpions lead guitarist Michael Schenker and the ex - Scorpions drummer Herman Rare Bell, the ex - Rainbow singer Doogie White and keyboardist / guitarist Wayne Findley on tour ( the Temple Of Rock / Love Drive - reunion tour ) around Europe. There was also a concert at the World Expo in Yeosu, South Korea, instead. After this tour was the world's DVD, BluRay and double CD Temple of Rock - Live In Europe published.

In the spring of 2013, the second European tour started in the same occupation by Russia, Britain, Germany, France, Spain, Scandinavia, the Benelux countries. Then it went on tour to America with concerts in Mexico, Chile, Brazil. The band was called now " Michael Schenker 's Temple of Rock". In November 2013 a new studio album ( Bridge the Gap ) was published. In March 2014 concerts in Japan are booked.

Francis Buchholz is married and has three children, a son and twin daughters.
