Francis Hagerup

Georg Francis Hagerup ( born January 22, 1853 in Horten, † February 8, 1921 in Christiania ) was a Norwegian conservative politician, lawyer and diplomat. He was Norwegian Prime Minister of 14 October 1895 to February 17, 1898 and again on October 22, 1903 to 11 March 1905.

Hagerup doctorate in 1885 at the University of Oslo and worked from 1887 to 1906 as a professor of law. At the same time he led from 1893 to 1895, the Justice Department and sat from 1900 to 1906 as a Member of the Norwegian Parliament. After that, he served as ambassador to Denmark and from 1916 in Sweden.

He was chairman of the Conservative Party Høyre 1899 to 1902 and worked from 1906 to 1920 as a member of the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
