Francis Tresham (game designer)

Francis Tresham G. ( b. 1936 ) is a British game designer. He is best known as the founder of the 18XX series, which deals with the development of railways in different countries, and through the board game Civilization, which influenced the development of the computer game Civilization.

In the early 1970s founded Tresham Hartland Trefoil to market its games. This company was bought in 1998 by MicroProse for the naming rights to Civilization to obtain both for computer games as well as board games. In the same year founded the publishing Tresham Tresham Games ( Northampton, England) being able to sell from the 18XX series to other games.
