Francisco Antonio Zea

Francisco Antonio Zea ( born October 21, 1770 in Medellin, Colombia, † November 28, 1822 in Bath, England) was a Colombian botanist and politician. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Zea ".

1805 Zea was appointed as Professor of Botany director of the Botanical Garden in Madrid. In 1814 he went back to South America. He joined the independence movement of Simón Bolívar against Spanish colonial rule. In 1820, he was Ambassador of Colombia in the UK.
