Francisco Elson
Francisco Marihno Robby Elson ( born February 28, 1976 in Rotterdam) is a Dutch professional basketball player in the NBA. The Center is 2.13 meters tall, weighs 107 kg and played for the Philadelphia 76ers.
Elson began playing basketball at AMVJ Rotterdam ( Rotterdam Basketbal today ) at the age of 12 years. After some time at Kilgore Junior College in Texas, he finished his college days at the University of California, Berkeley. As a senior, he helped the Bears to the NIT Championship.
Elson was drafted in the second round of the 1999 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets at 41st place, but was only for season 2003-04 of them under contract. Previously, he played four years in Spain: 1999-2001 FC Barcelona, Valencia Basket Club and the 2001-02 2002-03 when CDB Seville. From 2003 to 2006 Francisco then played in 201 games in the NBA for the Nuggets, scoring an average of 4.1 points.
In July 2006, Elson signed a two -year contract with the San Antonio Spurs. In the season 2006/ 07 he won the NBA championship with the Spurs.
On 20 February 2008 Elson was traded along with Brent Barry and a first-round draft pick to the Seattle SuperSonics. In exchange for Kurt Thomas went to San Antonio.
On 18 February 2010 a trade to the Philadelphia 76ers for Primoz Brezec followed, among others. For the Sixers, he completed just a game.
In summer 2010, he signed a one year contract with the Utah Jazz.
In January 2012, he wrote again in Philadelphia. There his contract was terminated in March 2012 using the option again.
After Elson received a new contract for the 2012/2013 season he remained a long time without a club and eventually took in January 2013 to a range of Mahram Tehran. There he was given a contract until the summer of 2013.
