Francisco Javier Clavijero

Francisco Javier Clavijero ( fränsēs'kō hävyĕr ' klävēhā'rō ) (* 1731 in Vera Cruz, Mexico, † 1787 in Bologna, Italy) was a Mexican writer.

His historical works in 10 volumes Ancient History of Mexico was published by him in written Spanish but first in Italian 1780/1781 ( Original title: Storia Antica del Messico Cavata as ' Migliori Storici Spagnuoli, e da ' Manoscritti, e dale Pitture Antiche degl ' Indiani ). In these volumes he refutes two contemporary historical works ( Philosophical Investigations about the Americans by Cornelis de Pauw, Philosophical and Political History of European offices in both India by Guillaume Raynal ( 1713-1796 ) ), with its confusions and false claims.
