Francisco José Millán Mon

Francisco José Millán Mon ( born March 8, 1955 in Pontevedra ) is a Spanish politician of the Partido Popular. Since 2004 he is member of the European Parliament.

Life

Mon studied law with the degree in Santiago de Compostela and a degree in international studies at the Diplomatic School of Madrid. In 1980 he started as a diplomat at the Directorate General of Consular Affairs Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as a consultant in international legal issues. From 1984 to 1987 he was First Secretary of the Spanish Embassy in Bonn. Then he went back to the Foreign Ministry, where he was a member of the Cabinet of the Secretary General for Foreign Policy and was Director of the Cabinet of the Secretary General for the European Communities. From 1993 to 1996 he held the post of First Secretary of the Spanish Embassy in Rabat. Back at the State Department, he worked as Director of the Cabinet of the Secretary General for Foreign Policy and the European Union and as Director General for European Affairs. From 2000 to 2003 he was an advisor to the First Vice-President of the Spanish Government.
