Francisco Mancebo

Francisco Mancebo ( born March 9, 1976 in Madrid ) is a Spanish cyclist.

His strengths are clearly in the mountains. He liked it when the pace was uniformly high. Short, fast sprints are as well as the time trial is not his specialty, even if he was able to improve over the years in the time trial.

Mancebo won in 2000 as a total - ninth the white jersey of best young rider in the Tour de France. In 2005, he reached the 4th place in the overall standings his best result at the Tour de France - which was subsequently revised in 3rd place overall after the doping Verturteilung of Jan Ullrich in 2012. In the same year he landed another stage win at the Vuelta a España and came there as well the third place overall. Only the title defense of his Spanish champions jerseys, which he conquered in 2004, he did not succeed this year. He was second behind Juan Manuel Garate.

A special characteristic of the quiet people of Madrid was his leaning head posture on the bike when he undertook great efforts, for example in the tough mountain stages.

Due to the suspicion that he was involved in the doping scandal Fuentes, he was expelled from the race one day before the start of the Tour de France 2006 and announced end of his career. From him the citation should come, that, when the Code of Ethics of the ProTeam would be used in its pure form, only ex- Tour boss Jean -Marie Leblanc should start.

Since his guilt was not detectable, no doping procedure was opened against him and he told his international retirement. Relax- GAM Fuenlabrada took him under contract. With Ángel Vicioso, Óscar Sevilla Jan Hruska, Jesús Hernández and Santiago Pérez go there five drivers who are also involved in the doping scandal Fuentes.
