Francisco Rabal

Francisco Rabal Valera (better known as Paco Rabal ), ( born March 8, 1926 in Águilas; † August 29, 2001 in Bordeaux, France) was a Spanish actor.

Life

Rabals family left the Murcia region after the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War. In Madrid, the young Rabal had to work as a street vendor, thus ensuring the maintenance of the family. After leaving school, he worked as an electrician in Spanish film studios. He took over first on parts and then went to the theater, where he also received acting lessons. After numerous films in Spain it 's international breakthrough came with the 1959 Mexican film by Luis Buñuel Nazarín. With Buñuel two years later he made ​​the film Viridiana, in 1961 won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. In addition to numerous works cinematically interesting Rabal was also seen repeatedly in commercial products.

Rabal appeared in over 200 films.
