Francisco Rodrigues Lobo

Francisco Rodrigues Lobo (* 1580 in Leiria, † November 24, 1622 in Lisbon ) was a Portuguese writer.

Life

Rodrigues Lobo was born of noble parents in Leiria, studied at the University of Coimbra and then returned to the home province, where he spent almost his entire life. He wrote several pastoral in prose and rhyme, of which " Primavera " was considered the most successful of 1601 often reprinted and was regarded as a model for the environment description in the Portuguese literature. Rodrigues Lobo wrote at a time when his country was under Spanish rule; he created a historical epic of certain patriotic significance. Lobos stylistic elegance was widely admired.
