Franck Dumas

Franck Dumas ( born January 9, 1968 in Bayeux ) is a former French footballer.

Playing career

Dumas began his career at Stade Malherbe Caen, where he was first employed from the 1987/88 season as a defensive midfielder. In the following season he would have had to experience his first descent, it would Caen been unable to save himself with three wins in the last three games. In the 1991/92 season the team finished fifth, and thus even the UEFA Cup. Despite good performances Dumas never succeeded, unlike his teammate Fabrice Divert, the jump in the Équipe Tricolore. At the end of the successful 1991/92 season left Caen Dumas and moved to AS Monaco. There he was retrained by the midfielder to the post of defense. In 1997, he celebrated with his team winning the league title. In 1999 he left the club after seven years. After every half a year in Newcastle and at Olympique Marseille Dumas declined in 2000 for RC Lens. He stayed for only one year and returned to SM Caen. In 2004, he succeeded in his last season to return to the first division and then ended his career. Overall, it comes to 407 inserts and ten goals in the first French League and six in the English Premier League.

Coaching career

After the end of his active career Dumas worked as sports director for Caen, until he became the head coach on May 7, 2005. 2007 reached the summit with the club, which had slipped again in the second division. In 2012 he was dismissed as a result of relegation from the Premier League. In February 2013 Dumas was presented at relegation-threatened second division club AC Arles -Avignon as the new coach.
