Franco Arese

Francesco Arese ( born April 13, 1944 in Centallo ) is an Italian former athlete. At a height of 1.86 m his competition weight was 65 kg.

His international debut Francesco Arese at the European Championships in Budapest in 1966. Both the 800m and 1500m, he left in the flow. At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City Arese reached the semifinals over 1500 meters and was there in his seventh run, the first six reached the final. The following year, Arese was a finalist at the European Championships in 1969 in Athens. He was in 3:42,2 minutes aft with two seconds behind the bronze medalist, Henryk Szordykowski from Poland.

His greatest success achieved Arese at the European Championships 1971 in Helsinki. In 3:38,4 minutes he won the title before Szordykowski and the British Brendan Foster. In Munich at the Olympic Games in 1972, he retired four years ago from the semi-finals.

Arese won in 1968, 1969, 1972 and 1973 the Italian league title in the 800 -meter run, 1966, 1967, 1968 and 1970, he won the 1500-meter, 1971, he won over 5000 meters. In the Indoor Championships he scored twice, in 1970 over 3000 and 1972 meters above 1500 meters.
