Franco Brienza (2013 )

Franco Brienza ( born March 19, 1979 in Cantù (CO), Italy) is an Italian football player. It is mostly used as a winger on both sides attack, but also plays as a hanging tip.

Career

In the club

Franco Brienza started his professional career in 1997 at Foggia Calcio, where he played for three years with the club and relegation from Serie B in the C2 series.

Then Brienza joined the Sicilian club Palermo. There he was a regular in the series C1 and rose with the team to Serie B on where you could win the tenth place in the table in the following year. 2002/ 03 Brienza was awarded to the league rivals Ascoli Calcio from January to June 2004, he played on loan for AC Perugia. When he celebrated Umbrian club on 8 February 2004 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium against AC Milan his Serie A debut and played a total of twelve games.

His most successful season experienced Brienza in the game year 2004/ 05, when he in 33 games had a large share in the good season of the riser Palermo and the subsequent qualification for the UEFA Cup with ten goals. After flying high in the preseason to Brienza was in the 2005/06 season in a loss of form. Reason for this was mainly that with coach Francesco Guidolin his great patron was released in Palermo and his successor Luigi Delneri no longer built on him. Brienza found himself back on the bench and brought it in to short assignments. Only when Delneri was fired and with Giuseppe Papadopulo came a new coach, Franco Brienzas operating time increased again. His personal highlight of the season was the 1-0 winning goal in the knockout round first leg of the UEFA Cup against FC Schalke 04

After the 2005/ 06 season came the first time to exchange rumors about Brienza. He has been associated with Reggina Calcio and especially the Napoli. After Francesco Guidolin but again coach in Palermo, remained Brienza, in the hope that he would make it under Guidolin back to regular players, in Sicily. However, that did not change his situation because he should still be only a substitute. On January 16, 2008 Franco Brienza joined on loan with option to purchase Reggina Calcio. His debut at Reggina Calcio crowned Brienza immediately with a goal against Cagliari Calcio. For the 2010/11 season he signed a contract with AC Siena, but switched after two years to U.S. Palermo.

In the National Team

In June 2005, Franco Brienza of Marcello Lippi was first appointed to the squad of the Italian national team. On 8 June 2005 he made his debut in a friendly against Serbia and Montenegro, three days later, he completed his second international match. Since then, he has not been appointed to the Squadra Azzurra.
