Franco Columbu

Franco Columbu ( born August 7, 1941 in Ollolai, Sardinia, Italy; actually Francesco Columbu ), began his career as a boxer and powerlifters. He was one of the first professional bodybuilder and now works as a chiropractor and nonfiction author. He also worked as a film actor and is a close friend and best man of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Life

Columbu grew up in a farm in Sardinia and had to stay as a child sheep. At age 13 he left school to work on the family farm. Later he became a mason and went as guest workers to Munich, where he worked as a bricklayer and a taxi driver. When Schwarzenegger came to Munich in 1966, he became its training partner and friend. Between 1968 and 1981 he won a few titles in bodybuilding, in the years 1976 and 1981, twice the title of Mr. Olympia, which is considered the highest honor in professional bodybuilding. 1969 brought Joe Weider Columbu at the instigation of Schwarzenegger in the U.S., where the two founded a construction company. Later, Columbu made ​​his money among other things, real estate and as an actor.

He also earned a doctorate in chiropractic and nutrition. Since 1978 he has worked as a chiropractor. In 2006 he was appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger to the board of chiropractors certified in California.

Columbu also wrote a number of bodybuilding textbooks to training and nutrition. Early on, he campaigned for the women's bodybuilding and this also laid before publications. 2001 Columbu was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the IFBB. He also holds several world records in powerlifting.

Columbu is a member of the Republican and lives in Los Angeles. After his first marriage to Dr. Anita Columbu 1990 he married Deborah Columbu.
