Franco Frattini

Franco Frattini [ Franko frat ː ː ni i ] ( born March 14, 1957 in Rome ) is an Italian politician today without party and was from May 2008 to November 2011 for the second time Foreign Minister Silvio Berlusconi. In 2012, he supported the candidacy of Mario Monti and left the party Popolo della Libertà.

Political career

Frattini studied law in 1979 passed the state examination and was until 1984 worked as a prosecutor. Subsequently, he was judge, first at the Administrative Court of the Piedmont region, from 1986 to the Consiglio di Stato. After various tasks in the ministerial Frattini 1995 Minister of Public Affairs and Regional Policy at Prime Minister Lamberto Dini; in March 1996, Frattini resigned from this office.

In the parliamentary elections of 1996, he was elected to represent the electoral district of Bolzano - Leifers for Forza Italia in the Italian Chamber of Deputies. There he was as a representative of the opposition member of the Intelligence Commission. Although he again ran in Bolzano and Laives in 2001, he was not chosen because the South Tyrolean People's Party candidate of Ulivo, Claudio Bressa, had supported. Due to the complicated electoral system, he moved still a -vis the national ratio constituency in parliament and became the minister of intelligence. He was foreign minister of his country in 2002; he held until his appointment as Vice- President of the European Commission in 2004 the Office.

As of November 18, 2004 was Frattini European Commissioner for Justice, Freedom and Security and Vice- President of the European Commission. In March 2008, he announced to leave Brussels for a month to run for the upcoming Italian elections. On 8 May 2008, he was re-appointed as Foreign Minister in the Berlusconi Cabinet fourth.

Substantive positions

In his position as EU Justice Commissioner, he advocated the filtering of the Internet for prohibited content, such as bomb building instructions. This plan was not realized in his tenure.
