Franco Modigliani

Franco Modigliani ( born June 18, 1918 in Rome, † 25 September 2003 in Cambridge, Massachusetts ) was an Italian economist and Nobel laureate.

Life

Due to his Jewish origins and his anti-fascist views, he left Italy in 1939 and emigrated to the United States. For he developed life-cycle hypothesis professor of economics in 1985 was awarded the Prize in Economic Sciences the Bank of Sweden in memory of Alfred Nobel. Along with Merton H. Miller, he developed the Modigliani -Miller theorem for corporate financing. From 1962 he taught at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
