Franco Restivo

Francesco " Franco " Restivo ( born May 25, 1911 in Palermo, † April 17, 1976 in Francavilla di Sicilia, Messina ) was an Italian lawyer and politician of the Christian Democrats, which both President of the Autonomous Region of Sicily as well as interior and defense ministers Italy and from 1958 until his death a member of the chamber of Deputies ( Camera dei deputati ) was.

Restivo, son of jurists and legislators Empedocle Restivo studied post-school law at the University of Palermo and was there after graduation in 1943, first lecturer of Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law, before he subsequently Lecturer in Public Law at the Faculty of Economy and Trade the University of Palermo was.

In 1949 he became the successor of Giuseppe Alessi president of the autonomous region of Sicily and held this position until his replacement by Alessi in 1955.

On 1 June 1958 he was first elected as a candidate of the DC as a member of the House of Representatives and represented in this for nearly 18 years until his death in the electoral district of Palermo. Minister

Last Restivo was from 17 February to 26 June 1972 Defence Minister ( Ministro della Difesa ) in the first government of Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti. During this time he was also ex-officio chancellor and treasurer of the Military Order ( Ordine militare d' Italia ).
