Franco Rol

Franco Rol ( born June 5, 1908 in Turin, † June 18, 1977 Rapallo ) was an Italian racing driver.

Franco Rol was an Italian aristocrat, who started as a gentlemen drivers in the 1940s with motorsport. His Alfa Romeo had a special, short chassis and roll thus resulted in the 1948 Grand Prix of Sicily, stopped him before engine damage. In 1949 he was third in the Mille Miglia.

In 1950 he came into Formula 1 He was team-mate Louis Chiron at Maserati. He made his debut at the Grand Prix of Monaco, where he was involved in the collision at the start of the first round. The race in France and Italy went for roller without countable result at the end.

In 1951, he joined the team of OSCA, but only played the race at Monza, which he finished in ninth place.

1953 ended the career of Rol after a serious accident at a road race in Sicily. Rol survived a fierce strike into a wall with serious injuries that could fully recovered, but went no more races.
