Franco Selvaggi

Franco Selvaggi ( born May 15, 1953 in Pomarico (MT ), Italy ) is a retired Italian footballer.

During his playing career he played as a striker and was founded in 1982 with Italy wins the World Cup.

Career

Selvaggi began his professional career at Ternana Calcio, for whom he made ​​his debut in Serie A on December 30, 1972 against Fiorentina. For the 1972/73 season he moved to AS Roma, where he came into use, however, only two games during the season. After Selvaggi 1974 was returned for several months to Ternana, he moved to Taranto Sport. There he spent five Series B seasons and was a top performer.

For the season 1979/80 Franco Selvaggi then moved to newly promoted Serie A Cagliari Calcio, where he scored twelve goals right away and was behind Roberto Bettega, Alessandro Altobelli and Paolo Rossi fourth in the scoring charts. In the following two seasons brought Selvaggi very good performance in Sardinian club and took his order for the national team.

On April 19, 1981 under coach Enzo Bearzot Selvaggi debuted Azzurra 0-0 against East Germany in the Squadra. After two more internationals he was finally called by Bearzot also in the Italian squad for the 1982 World Cup in Spain. There Franco Selvaggi was indeed not a single minute on the field, but was able to celebrate winning the World Cup title.

After the World Cup Selvaggi moved to Torino and was never called as a result in the national team. In Toro, he initially trained with Carlo Borghi and later with the Austrian Walter Schachner in attack. For the 1984/85 season Franco Selvaggi went to Udinese Calcio, in the following season, he ran on for Inter Milan and in the following season, he ran for SS Sambenedettese Calcio on to the field and ended his active career in 1987.
