François Colin de Blamont

François Collin de Blamont (also: Colin de Blamont ) ( born November 22, 1690 in Versailles, † February 14, 1760 ) was a French composer of the late Baroque.

Life

His father, Nicolas Collin de Blamont was a musician at the court of Louis XIV and also looked at the painting. He was a friend of the painter Hyacinthe Rigaud ( 1659-1743 ). So his two sons François Hyacinthe and received a musical and scenic training.

François received his first instruction from his father and was admitted to the chapel of the Duchess du Maine 1707. Here he took with well known musicians colleagues at the then famous " Nuits de Sceaux ", consisting of musical entertainment and mythology, in part. He composed a cantata after a text by Jean -Jacques Rousseau, which he dedicated to the composer Michel Richard de Lalande. In turn, this has taught him in harmony and counterpoint.

In 1719, he received the post of superintendent of music at the royal court, a post de Lalande rested. This position he shared with André Cardinal Destouches. On July 3, 1723 heroes ballet " Les feast Grecques et Romaines " arrived at the Royal Academy with great success to show, even up to fifty years later, it was always presented in different versions. Collin de Blamont became the court composer and created works for numerous public events, such as for the marriage of Louis XV. to the births of the princesses and the Dauphin. Together with André Cardinal Destouches he denied the court concerts for the royal family at Versailles and Fontainebleau. After the death of Michel -Richard Delalande, he became " maître de musique de la chambre ". Having previously numerous motets were performed at the spiritual concert, there was his Te Deum in 1726 given. After he was charged in 1750 by the Queen to the peerage, he was appointed a year later knighted ( Chevalier de l' Ordre de Saint-Michel ).

His nephew and pupil, the composer Bernard de Bury (1720-1785), he bequeathed the privileges of his office. In his 1756 published " Essai sur les goûts ancien et moderne Francoise, relative ment aux paroles d' opéra " he actively intervenes in the Buffonistenstreit.
