François Vatable

François Vatable called Watebled (* 1495 in Picardy, † March 16, 1547 in Paris) was a French scholar.

Life

Vatable taught at the newly founded Collège de France and was considered one of the best Hebrew connoisseurs of his time. His translations and commentaries have been published on the basis of a transcript of its students. The edited by Robert Estienne works have been convicted of Protestant tendencies and not recognized by Vatable itself.
