Franjo Gregurić

Franjo Gregurić ( born October 12, 1939 in Lobor, Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian politician and from 1991 to 1992, the third Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia.

Life

Prior to 1990, Gregurić worked at leading positions of the state enterprise Astra. On July 17, 1991, he was appointed by then-President Franjo Tuđman as Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Croatia. When he took office there was the state in a difficult position. Although the Republic had declared on 25 June 1991 for independent, it was not yet internationally recognized as an independent state. In parts of Croatia with a larger Serb minority unrest between Croats and Serbs, which led to the Croatian War began. This government was later also as Vlada nacionalnog jedinstva ( The government of national unity ) means. During the tenure of Gregurić was also internationally recognized as a sovereign state on 15 January 1992 Croatia. In February 1992, the government began to fall apart and Gregurić later became president of the Croatian Community Fire Department.
