Frank Emmelmann

Frank Emmelmann ( born September 15, 1961 in Schneidlingen ) is a former German track and field athlete. 1982 he was European champion in the 100 - meter sprint.

Life

Emmelmann was over 20 years of German record holder in the 200 meters ( 20.23 s, erected in 1985 in Moscow), before Tobias Unger could beat that record at the German Championships in 2005. His record over 100 meters stands at 10.06 seconds ( set up in 1985 in East Berlin and still German record ).

He was at the World Cup 1981 on 100 and 200 meters and third parties with the 4 x 100 - meter relay in the GDR second. At the European Championships 1982, he won the gold medal in the 100 meters, the bronze medal over 200 meters and a silver medal in the relay. In Helsinki he arrived at the first World Championships over 200 meters in fifth place and with the season in fourth place. At the World Cup 1985 he was third in the 100 and second 200 meters. At the European Championships 1986, he won silver again with the 4 x 100 - meter relay. In 1992, he finished his career.

Emmelmann belonged to the SC Magdeburg. He had a size of 1.86 m, a competition weight of 69 to 70kg. In the becoming public knowledge after the fall of documents to the state doping in the GDR was found in the doped athletes also the name of Emmelmann.

Frank Emmelmann is married to the former 400-meter runner Kirsten Emmelmann. After the end of his career, he was employed as a sales manager at the sporting goods company Puma, later in a Magdeburg sports shop.
