Frank Fahey
Frank Fahey (Irish Proinsias Ó Fathaigh, born June 6, 1951 in Galway, County Galway) is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician.
Biography
After graduation, he worked as a teacher at a Secondary School and began his national political career as a candidate of the Fianna Fáil in 1982 with the first election for deputies ( Teachta Dala ) of the lower house ( Dáil Éireann ), in which he initially until 1992, the interests of the Galway West constituency represented.
After the election victory of Fianna Fáil, he was on 12 March 1987 by Prime Minister ( Taoiseach ) Charles Haughey J. Minister of State for Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Education appointed and took over as " junior ministers " so his first government post. After a cabinet reshuffle, he was then on 19 July 1989 to the end of Haugheys term of office on 11 February 1992 Minister of State in the Ministry of Education and in addition from 26 September 1989 to February 11, 1992 Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism, Transport and communication, and as such responsible for the area of tourism.
After he retired in 1992 from the House of Commons, he was between 1993 and 1997 Member of the Senate ( Seanad Eireann ) and represented there, the group of workers. In 1997 he was again elected to the House of Representatives and represents after two elections since then again the constituency of Galway West.
Prime Minister Bertie Ahern appointed him beyond after the election victory of Fianna Fáil on 8 July 1997 to the Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Children. After a cabinet reshuffle, he was on 27 January 2000 to June 6, 2002 Minister for Marine and Natural Resources, and thus also belonged to the Cabinet Ahern.
After the general election in 2002, he retired again but from the Cabinet and was only taken into account again by Bertie Ahern in forming a government on 18 June 2002 as the State Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment for a job as a " junior ministers ". This post he held until 14 June 2007. Finally Fahey was dated 29 September 2004 to 14 June 2007 in addition also Minister of State in the Ministry of Justice, Equality and Law Reform.
