Frank Havens (canoeist)

Frank Havens ( born August 1, 1924) is a former American professional whitewater kayaker, who won 1952 Olympic gold in the 10,000 meters.

At the Summer Olympics in Helsinki in 1952, he won gold in the one - Canadians in the 10,000 meters. He dedicated the victory to his father Bill, who was considered for the Olympic Games in 1924 as the favorite, but a participation waived because he did not want to miss Frank's birth.

As early as 1948 Frank Havens took part in the Olympic Games in London in part, and finished second behind František Čapek. More Olympic appearances were in 1956 and 1960. He is so far the only U.S. Olympian with a victory in the solo canoe.
