Frank Isola

Frank Isola ( born February 20, 1925 in Detroit, † December 12, 2004 ) was an American jazz drummer.

Life

Frank Isola played from 1936 drums, after he had heard Gene Krupa, worked in California with Bobby Sherwood and Earle Spencer in 1946, then in New York with Johnny Bothwell and Elliot Lawrence from 1947, with Stan Getz from 1951 to 1953 and piano Wi in Gerry Mulligan Quartet 1953/1954. With this group he joined in June 1954 in Paris several times to listen to on the album Vogue Pleyel Concert. After freelancing in New York in 1957 he went to Detroit. He also took on plates with Mose Allison, Eddie Bert, Bob Brookmeyer, Jimmy Raney, Johnny Williams and Tony Fruscella.
