Frank J. Urioste

Joseph Frank Urioste (* 1938) is an American editor, who was previously nominated three times for an Oscar.

Life and career

He began his film career in 1957 at MGM as an assistant to Henry Mancini, for he cut pieces of music for the series Peter Gunn and Mr. Lucky. Here he met his mentor Ralph E. Winters know that he himself referred to as his idol. In 1960, he joined the U.S. Army for two years and then went to the end of the 1960s back to MGM, where he was an assistant editor on films like The Dirty Dozen and Mutiny on the Bounty. In 1969 he cut with a widow murdered his first silent film in the 1970s, he worked mainly in B-movies. In the 1980s, he managed through collaboration with director Richard Fleischer his final breakthrough. He gained an excellent reputation as an editor for complex action films through his work with Paul Verhoeven ( RoboCop, Total Recall - Total Recall, Basic Instinct ) and Renny Harlin ( Cliffhanger - Only the strong survive, Cutthroat Island, Deep Blue Sea ). Since 1998, Frank J. Urioste Senior Vice President is in the film development department at Warner Bros..

Frank J. Urioste is a member of the American Cinema Editors and was honored by the organization in 2007 for his life's work.
