Frank Kortan

Frank Kortan ( born April 22, 1964 in Prague ) is a German painter. He lives and works in Egloffstein, Bavaria ( Germany ).

Life and work

His artistic career began as a professional musician. In 1984 he emigrated from Czechoslovakia to Switzerland ( Ticino). After a year 's stay, he moved to Germany.

It was followed by numerous study trips around the world. Kortan devoted himself privately since 1990 to the intensive study of painting and studied from 1996 to 2000 at the Masaryk Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. During this time he also met the trompe -l'oeil scene. He is since 2003 the Knights of the Order of Ordo Sancti Constantini.

Frank Kortans images look surreal. In his works, Frank Kortan processes various topics, paints and portrays historical and contemporary figures, such as the singer Karel Gott or the writer Ephraim Kishon.

His paintings could be seen in solo and group exhibitions; his works are in private and in public collections.
