Frank Kriz

Frank Josef Kriz ( born March 26, 1894 in New York City, † 1970) was an American gymnast.

He won a gold medal in horse jump at the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924. However, the competition was not strictly according to the international rules instead, the athletes had rather before jumping horse in addition to cross a high jump bar. His best finish four years later at the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam was a seventh place in the team all-around.

In addition to his Olympic victory Kriz was a total of five American masters, namely 1922 individual all-around, the horse leap and on bars and 1924 individual all-around and floor exercise. In 1959 he was inducted into the U.S. Gymnastics Hall of Fame.
