Frank Lane Wolford

Frank Lane Wolford ( born September 2, 1817 with Columbia, Kentucky; † August 2, 1895 ) was an American politician. Between 1883 and 1887 he represented the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Frank Wolford attended the public schools of his home. After a subsequent study of law and qualifying as a lawyer, he started working in Liberty in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party. Between 1847 and 1866 he was deputy four times in the House of Representatives from Kentucky. During the Civil War Wolford was 1861-1864 Colonel a cavalry regiment in the army of the Union. From 1867 to 1868, he was General Director of the National Guard of Kentucky as adjutant.

In the congressional elections of 1882 Wolford was in the eleventh electoral district of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Landaff Andrews on March 4, 1883. After a re-election in 1884 he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1887 two legislative sessions. For the 1886 elections, he was defeated by Republican Hugh F. Finley. As a result, Wolford practiced as a lawyer again.
