Frank Lorenzo

Frank Lorenzo ( born May 19, 1940 in New York City ) is an American manager who was involved in the bankruptcy of the U.S. airline Eastern Airlines.

Lorenzo led from time to time a group of companies, among other things, Continental Airlines, New York Air, Frontier Airlines, Texas Air and Eastern Airlines included. He became famous for his massively focused on cost-cutting measures, which brought him again and again on a collision course with the unions. So it was, inter alia, accused of having Eastern Airlines, the airline of the holding company with the highest level of union organization and therefore difficult enforceable savings in personnel costs, specifically weakened by transferred assets without consideration to other airlines in the group in which unions had a weaker position. These policies contributed their part to the collapse of Eastern Airlines in January 1991.
