Frank Lucas (Oklahoma)

Frank D. Lucas ( born January 6, 1960 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma) is an American politician. Between 1994 and 2003 he represented the sixth electoral district of the state of Oklahoma in the U.S. House of Representatives. Since 2003, he holds the same mandate for the third district.

Career

Frank Lucas studied until 1982 at the Oklahoma State University agriculture. Then he decided to go into politics. Lucas was a member of the Republican Party, whose chairman in in Roger Mills County. In his district, he organized the election campaign of U.S. Senator Don Nickles.

In the years 1984 and 1986 and candied Lucas still unsuccessfully for a seat in the House of Representatives from Oklahoma. In 1988 he was elected to the Board, where he remained with a break until 1994. There he fell to its conservative attitude. So he was and is a supporter of the death penalty and an opponent of abortion laws.

Following the resignation of Congressman Glenn English Lucas was elected at the election due in the sixth constituency with 70 % of the vote in the U.S. House of Representatives. 1996, 1998 and 2000, he was re-elected with a clear majority in each case between 59 % and 65 % of the vote. After a re-division of electoral districts Lucas took over the third district in 2002. Even in his new constituency, he reached a high vote share between 67 % and 82 % in the years 2002, 2004 and 2008. He is a member of the 1994 Convention since May 10. His current term of office runs until 3 January 2011. He is a member of the Agriculture Committee, the Finance Committee and the Science and Technology Committee. Frank Lucas is married and lives privately in Cheyenne.
