Life

Frank Luther grew up in Kansas. There he played as a pianist in various small bands before he moved to New York City in 1928. Here Luther learned the musician Carson Robison know, who had already played as a background musician Vernon Dalharts and Wendell Hall. Together with Robison wrote and played various titles and regularly performed in Ethel Park Richardson's radio show. The duo also worked successfully with other singers such as Phil Crow, its title In The Cumberland Mountains of 1931 was a hit. A short time later he met the fiddler Zora Layman, who had already played with Carson Robison, and married her shortly thereafter. By his marriage with Layman he moved slowly away from the country music, Luther wrote and sang children's songs instead. With Leo Reisman he took in 1933 on the original version of Yesterdays, which was a chart success. Only for his wife Zora he wrote the Country Title When the Curtains of the Night Are Pinned Back By the Stars, which she recorded in 1937 with the band The Hometowners. In the following years, it has nevertheless always more to rest.

Frank Luther died on 16 November 1980 at the age of 80 years.
