Frank Margerin

Frank Margerin ( born January 9, 1952 in Paris ) is a French comic artist and author.

Career

Margerin studied art and could hurlant 1975 in the newly formed comic magazine Métal publish his first short story. His most successful series began in 1979 without a title. These are stories of a Parisian suburb of transition, in which he represents the youth of the 1980s. In German translation, the series was published under the title insanity strips at Semic and The suburb gear at Carlsen Comics.

Margerins most popular character is Lucien, a rock music enthusiast teenager from a suburb of Paris who stumbles from one misadventure to another, but always remains good-natured. Lucien occurs predominantly in short stories; even at these Margerin uses every opportunity to accommodate a gag.

In 1992 he received the Grand Prix de la Ville d' Angoulême at the International Comic Festival in Angoulême.
