Frank Marino

Frank Marino ( born November 20, 1954 in Montreal, Canada as Francesco Antonio Marino ) is a Canadian rock musician (guitar, vocals, keyboards, drums) Italian - Arab descent.

Life

With ten years of Marino drums began to play. In the late 1960s, in the midst of the hippie movement, he made his first experience with drugs, especially LSD. In the summer of 1968, he was hospitalized with a life-threatening LSD trip to the hospital. "Tales Of The Unexpected " (1979 ) contained a page with new songs that were recorded live. The title track (inspired by Hendrix's "3rd Stone From The Sun " ) first showed clearly jazzy influences. Under the title "The Power Of Rock'n'Roll" (1981), the first solo album by Frank Marino has been published. " Juggernaut " (1982) was another highlight in the career of Frank Marino. It is characterized by powerful and melodic guitar hard rock, occasionally garnished by synthesizer. Brother Vince was involved in the recording. The influence of Hendrix is only marginally audible.

After the career faltered, the recording contract with Columbia / CBS ran out. Only in 1986 was the next album, " Full Circle ", released on a small label on the again brother Vince was involved.

" Double Live " (1988) was re-released under the name Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush and presented, among other versions of " Roadhouse Blues" and "Who Do Ya Love". Published in 2001, Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush 's comeback album, "Eye Of The Storm". This versatile album also reveals Arab influences.

" Real Live " ( double CD) was launched in 2004 and was recorded in September 2001 during a single concert in Montreal. Due to a technical failure during the recordings restored Frank Marino the last track of the album in painstaking detail on the basis of bootleg recordings of the concert. Characteristic of this live album are long Livejams, many songs blend seamlessly. In addition to classics from the repertoire of Marino, there are versions of " Voodoo Chile " ( Blue Version), "Red House" and " Poppy " in a 26minütigen version with numerous citations.
