Frank McLeavy, Baron McLeavy

Frank McLeavy, Baron McLeavy, of the City of Bradford, JP (* January 1, 1899; † 1 October 1976) was a British Labour Party politician, who more than twenty years a Member of the House of Commons and was in 1967 as a Life Peer due to the Life peerages Act 1958 a member of the House of Lords was.

Life

In the Lower House elections of July 5, 1945 McLeavy was first elected as a Labour candidate for the Members in the House of Commons and represented in this up to the elections of March 31, 1966 more than twenty years the constituency of Bradford East. On October 6, 1957, he submitted a draft Deputies (Private Member's Bill) amending the National Assistance Act 1948, which should empower local authorities to offer older people meals, housing and other facilities. During his parliamentary membership, he also dealt in particular with technology and transport policy.

By Letters Patent of September 11, 1967 McLeavy was, who served temporarily as a Justice of the Peace ( Justice of the Peace ), due to the Life peerages Act 1958 as life peer with the title Baron McLeavy, of the City of Bradford raised to the peerage and thus belonged to until his death in the House of Lords as a member.
