Frank Minnifield

Frank LyDale Minnifield ( born January 1, 1960 in Lexington, Kentucky ) is a former American professional American football player. He played as a cornerback, among others in the National Football League ( NFL) for the Cleveland Browns.

Playing career

College career

Frank Minnifield visited in his hometown high school and played in the high school football team as a tailback and safety. After finishing school, he studied from 1979 to 1982 at the University of Louisville. The Louisville Cardinals football team of his college, he played as a safety and kickoff and punt returner. During his playing time at college he began seven interceptions. In his final year of study Minnifield served as team captain of the Cardinals. Because of his athletic achievements, he was honored by his college four times.

Professional career

Minnifield joined after studying the Chicago Blitz, who played in the United States Football League ( USFL ). Frank Minnifield moved the following year to the Arizona Wranglers. After the season, the Wranglers were merged with the Arizona Outlaws and Minnifield reached the release from his contract. He joined the coached by Marty Schottenheimer Cleveland Browns. Minnifield was able to move with the Browns three times in the AFC Championship Game. In 1986, the Browns defeated by the Denver Broncos with 23:20, the following year subject to the Browns to the Broncos with 38:33. In 1989, the Browns finally ran on for the third time against the Denver Broncos. Also in this game failed Minnifield with his team at the team from Colorado. The match was lost with 37:21. Frank Minnifield ended after the 1992 season his career. He founded then in his native city a building contractor and is currently working in the automotive industry.

Honors

Frank Minnifield played four times in the Pro Bowl, the final game of the best players of the season. He was elected four times to the All- Pro. Upchurch is a member of the NFL 1980s All- Decade Team and the Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame, and the University of Louisville Athletic Hall of Fame.
