Frank Neubarth

Frank Neubarth ( born July 29, 1962 in Hamburg ) is a former German football player and coach.

Playing career

Association

Neubarth played 1982-1996 317 times for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga, scoring 97 goals. In addition, he scored 4 goals in the DFB Cup and 13 goals in European club competition for Werder. Except for the season 1986/87 in every season he scored at least one Bundesliga goal. His debut for the SVW was the tall striker in the 1982 season / 83. At the time he came on Matchday 6, 18 September 1982 against 1 FC Cologne to his pro debut when einwechselte him Werder coach Otto Rehhagel in the 74th minute for Karl -Heinz Kamp. Already on Matchday Neubarth episode was the first time in the starting lineup of the Hanseatic city dwellers. In the match against 1.FC Kaiserslautern he also scored his first Bundesliga goal.

Against FC Vorwärts Frankfurt, the attacker came on September 29, 1982 his first international appearance. Neubarth denied on April 2, 1988 his only 'A' game for the DFB. In preparation for the European Football Championship 1988 Germany coach Franz Beckenbauer called him in the squad of Germans. In the 1-0 win against Argentina in 81 minutes, the attacker came in to replace Dieter Eckstein.

Coaching career

After his active career as a player he was from 1996 to January 9, 2002 worked as a youth and amateur coach at Werder Bremen. Then he coached from 1 July 2002 to 26 March 2003 as the successor of Huub Stevens FC Schalke 04 on its activities from 1 July 2004 to 2 October 2006, in the third division Holstein Kiel followed his commitment to FC Carl Zeiss Jena. There he was since April 11, 2007 head coach and successor to the sacked predecessor Heiko Weber.
