Frank Ross (producer)

Frank Ross ( born August 12, 1904 in Boston, Massachusetts, † 18 February 1990 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American film producer.

Life

Ross graduated from Princeton University. In the years 1929 and 1930, Ross tried as an actor and appeared in three productions. From 1939 - beginning with Of Mice and Men - he worked as a film producer until the 1970s.

In 1943 he made ​​his debut as a screenwriter and was in the film The More the Merrier involved. In 1966 he wrote the story for the film Not so fast, my boy.

In the year 1951, with The Lady Says No Ross' only directorial effort.

Ross was in 1944 for the film The More the Merrier nominated along with his colleagues Richard Flournoy, Lewis R. Foster and Robert Russell for an Academy Award in the categories Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Story.

Two years later he received an honorary Oscar in 1954, he was nominated a second time for the film award.

From 1932 to 1949 he was married to actress Jean Arthur. 1950 was followed by a second marriage to actress Joan Caulfield, which lasted until 1960. Ross was the father of a son.

Ross died due to complications from brain surgery.
