Frank Skinner (composer)

Frank Skinner ( born December 31, 1897 in Meredosia, Illinois, † October 8, 1968 in Hollywood ) was an American composer.

Life

Frank Skinner studied music at the Chicago Musical College and worked early in his career as an arranger for dance bands and vaudeville shows. In 1925 he came to New York City, where he arranged for over 2,000 pop songs for the music publishing Robbins until 1935. In 1936 he went to Hollywood, where he first worked in the music department of Metro -Goldwyn- Mayer and later Universal Studios. In more than thirty years of film work, he composed music for over 200 films. He although he never won an Oscar, but was nominated five times for the coveted trophy. Skinner was one of the most excellent craftsmen among film music composers.
