Frank Thomas Shaw

Frank Thomas Shaw ( born October 7, 1841 in Woodsboro, Frederick County, Maryland, † February 24, 1923 in Westminster, Maryland ) was an American politician. Between 1885 and 1889 he represented the state of Maryland in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Frank Shaw attended the public schools of his home. After a subsequent medical studies at the University of Maryland in Baltimore and his 1864 was admitted as a doctor, he began in Uniontown in Maryland to work in this profession, which he held until 1873. Between 1873 and 1885, Shaw was an administrative employee at the District Court in Carroll County. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career.

In the congressional elections of 1884 Shaw was in the second electoral district of Maryland in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Joshua Talbott on March 4, 1885. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1889 two legislative sessions. Since 1887, he was Chairman of the Committee on Accounts. In 1888, he was not nominated by his party for re-election.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Shaw served 1890-1894 as a control agent of the State Government of Maryland. In 1890 he was also a member of the local Chamber of Deputies. Between 1894 and 1898 he directed the customs authorities at the port of Baltimore; 1915-1921 he was adviser to the administration of justice in Carroll County. Frank Shaw died on 24 February 1923 in Westminster, where he was also buried.
