Frank W. Wheeler

Frank Willis Wheeler ( born March 2, 1853 in Chaumont, New York; † August 9, 1921 in Saginaw, Michigan ) was an American politician. Between 1889 and 1891 he represented the state of Michigan in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Frank Wheeler attended the public schools of his home. In 1864 he moved with his parents to East Saginaw, Michigan. There he sat at the Saginaw High School and at the Ypsilanti State Normal School continued his education. After leaving school, he was active in the shipbuilding. In 1876 he moved to West Saginaw, where he became head of the Saginaw River Tug Association. In the following years he continued to be active in shipbuilding.

Politically, Wheeler member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1888 he was in the tenth constituency of Michigan in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Spencer O. Fisher on March 4, 1889. Since he resigned in 1890 to further candidacy, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1891.

After his retirement from the U.S. House of Representatives Wheeler took his previous activities in the shipbuilding again. Between 1899 and 1917 he lived in Detroit, before he returned to Saginaw, where he founded the Saginaw Shipbuilding Co.. Frank Wheeler died on August 9, 1921 in Saginaw and was buried in Bay City.
