Frank Wieneke

Frank Wieneke ( born January 31, 1962 in Hannover) is one of the most successful German judoka.

He was, among other winners at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles and second at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, in each case in the light middleweight. In addition, he was seven or German International Champion, European Champion and twice Vice-European Champion. Wieneke started for VfL Wolfsburg and was during his active fighter career from 1979 to 1992 member of the German national team.

As of 2001, coached Frank Wieneke the A- Federal squad. He has the 7th Dan (red- white) in Judo. In 2008, he led Ole Bischof as a coach for the gold medal at the Olympic Games in Beijing.

December 31, 2008 ended Frank Wieneke his eight -year national coach activity (men and U23 ) for the German Judo Federation. From January 2009 he is Senior Research Fellow at the trainer academy in Cologne, responsible for the education and training of graduate coach 's program. Wienekes successor as national coach will Detlef Ultsch.

He lives with his wife Marita and his two children near Cologne.
