History

Frankelbach essentially shares the history of the entire Palatinate. Traces of early Celtic settlements can not definitely prove, but are suspect. The term " devil stone " should point to the Celts. In addition, the street name " Ruhling " for an old Roman road that ran along here speaks. Ruhling comes etymologically from the word " Reuel " in the Palatine " Raul ", which close, narrow passage means. Raul, in turn, can be derived from the Latin " rivulus ". The receipt of this designation indicates a continuous settlement since Roman times, as the names of streets in the past were only transmitted orally from generation to generation. Frankelbach belonged from 1939 to the district of Kusel. After the administrative reform in 1971 the site moved to the District of Kaiserslautern.
