Frankenstein (1910 film)

Frankenstein is a film of Edison Studios from 1910, at the J. Searle Dawley directed. It was the first film adaptation of Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein.

Action

Frankenstein leaves home to study. Two years later, has become an alchemist, he believes he has discovered the secret of life. His fiancée, he reveals in a letter that he plans to create in an experiment the perfect man and marry her at success. Frankenstein mixed chemicals, but " the evil in Frankenstein's mind created instead of the perfect man is a monster ." Frankenstein returns to his parents and his fiancee. Suddenly the monster appeared on the eve of Frankenstein's wedding to his room, and talks to him, hiding, however, from Frankenstein's fiance. As the monster accidentally sees his reflection in a large mirror standing in the room, it is shocked, but spellbound.

Frankenstein has married and the monster reappears in the apartment and scared this time because of jealousy Bride of Frankenstein. There is a dispute between Frankenstein and the Monster. The film was made at the Edison Studios in the Bronx in New York City. Typical of films of its time, it consists of long shots with only a few cuts within a scene. The film was then with critics and viewers a success and the creation of the monster represents a very good for its time Tricktechnik

This first Frankenstein film was long thought to be lost; there existed only a few stills of the monster from the Edison catalog, as well as the local action description. In the 1950s an American film collector acquired a copy of the film, without being aware of the rarity. Mid-1970s was the existence of the film known, but it took almost another 30 years until it was generally available.
