Frankenthal, Saxony

Frankenthal is a municipality in the district of Bautzen in Saxony ( Germany ). It forms with the lying south of their community Großharthau the administrative community Großharthau.

With less than 1000 inhabitants Frankenthal is by population one of the smallest municipalities in Saxony. After the Saxon Interior Minister Markus Ulbig announced in April 2010 for Saxon communities a target of more than 5000 inhabitants in rural areas, the permanent independence of the church is uncertain in the medium term.

Location

Frankenthal is located in Upper Lusatia, near the historic Meissen border. The site extends over 2.5 kilometers in length in a hollow along a small creek from northwest to southeast. It is bordered to the west by the Massenei, on the northwest by Bretnig, on the north by the forest house, on the northeast by Rammenau, on the southeast by Goldbach and on the south by Großharthau. The nearest towns are Bischofswerda, Grossroehrsdorf Pulsnitz and Stolpen.

Geography

The subsoil of the village hall consists of powerful Pleistocene deposits, whose clayey, sandy and gravelly material was digested in several mines.

The most striking with 335 meters elevation on the community hall is the Pfarrberg near the village, of which offers a magnificent panorama over the country, according to Rammenau and Bischofswerda and the Lusatian mountains. Here the Parish Linde was planted in 1783, which is also reflected in the seal of the municipality. In the 1980s, it was against a "sister " planted to obtain the landmark for the future.

History

By 1200, settled Frankish settlers in the area. The place Frankenthal found, like other places in the area, for the first time in the Upper Lausitz Border Charter mention, which was signed by King Wenceslas of Bohemia on 7 May 1241 and defined the border between the Bohemian Crown dependencies Upper Lusatia and the bishopric of Meissen. The spellings Vrankental, Frankintal and Vrankendale are to be interpreted as "Franken settlement in the valley ." Church

Set in an elevated position in the village center at the ramming Straße is the church. It was initially built in the first half of the 14th century only as a chapel. Your first mention of it is in 1495 in the Meissner Bistumsmatrikel. In 1607 it receives its current form, as the predecessor by a third to the east is extended. The church receives a wooden ceiling, a loft and is painted. 1702 of the floor of the church is placed with panel stones. Further changes to the interior and exterior follow in the years 1729 to 1732 by Henry of Bünau. The lords of the manor gives the church an altar, a pulpit and can be replaced by a new one which is similar to the near Goldbacherstrasse church tower on the west side. In the immediate vicinity of the church, right on the village road, is the Lutheran Primary School Frankenthal. It was re-opened at the beginning of the school year 2002/2003 on the initiative of committed young citizens sponsored by the Lutheran School Association in the district of Bautzen eV. The building was constructed in 1893 after the old school building no longer provided enough space on the ram Straße. With the summer holidays of 2008, the school was renovated and expanded for the morning and afternoon sessions. Your inauguration followed on 23 February 2009.

In the low- village on the old road, which is opened in 1958 as a harvest Kindergarten daycare dandelion whose support is the workers' welfare. Your home is the former Gasthof Zur stock exchange in which the congregation in 1957, who set up a nursery and after-school club.
