The Bahnhof Frankfurt- Frankfurt mountain is located on the Main- Weser Railway and serves the same district of Frankfurt. The station was called until 1986 Frankfurt- Bonames.

History

The station was built for the then village Bonames, about 1500 meters which is, however, and is accessed through the center of the town station Bonames U2. The station building was built in 1911-1914 and is geared towards the village. It is a neo-Baroque building and is a cultural monument under the Hessian Monument Protection Act. Previously, the station was also collective point for freight traffic. Here persisted the siding of a color leather work. Since 1992, the station building is home to the Technical connection Marcomannia Frankfurt.

Operation

The station is now operated exclusively by the S -Bahn line S6 S-Bahn Rhein- Main. Between the two track rails is a passing siding. In addition to the main platform, there is therefore a central platform, which can be reached through a pedestrian underpass exclusively from the main platform from. The south adjacent, newly formed district of Frankfurt mountain is accessible to pedestrians through a second underpass, but has no platform access. This only limited for the disabled usability of the equipment is to be disposed of as part of the four-tracked expansion of the Main- Weser Railway between the stations at Frankfurt West and Bad Vilbel.

Planning

There are concrete plans to link the S-Bahn station after 2017 with an over the Homburger Landstraße extended U5. The precondition for this is the first reconstruction of the existing track to run on high platforms.
